Ontario Orienteering Championships 2026

Frontenac Legends is proud to host the Ontario Orienteering Championships this October in Kingston. Join athletes from across the province for three days of racing in classic Canadian terrain.
Who can participate
- Open to all orienteers from Ontario and beyond.
- Categories for all age groups (M/W10 to M/W85+).
- Recreational classes for beginners and non-competitive participants.

Entry fees
- Early bird: $XX per race.

- Junior and family discounts are available.
Key deadlines
- Early bird deadline: August 31, 2026.
- Standard entry deadline: September 30, 2026.
- No on-site registration for competitive classes.

Terrain & maps
The championship area features classic Canadian Shield terrain, characterized by intricate rock detail, glacial erratics, and a mix of open forest and technical marshes. All maps will be updated to ISOM 2017-2 standards at a scale of 1:10,000 or 1:15,000 depending on the discipline.
Race formats
The three-day event includes a Sprint distance race in urban Kingston, followed by both Middle and Long distance disciplines in the challenging forests of Little Cataraqui Creek and Frontenac Provincial Park. Courses are designed by nationally certified course planners to test both physical endurance and technical precision.
Competition classes
Classes are offered for all ages from M/W10 up to M/W85+. There are also recreational classes (Open Easy, Open Medium, Open Advanced) for those who wish to participate without competing for championships. All electronic timing will be completed via the SportIdent system.
Getting here
The championships will take place across Kingston and the Frontenac region. Local travel information for car rentals, airport shuttles, and highway access will be provided here to help athletes navigate the area efficiently.

Kingston offers a variety of accommodations ranging from historic downtown hotels to budget-friendly university residences and camping options. We are coordinating with local partners to suggest convenient locations for the event sites.
